　　The values of compassion, wisdom, peace, goodwill and service to humanity that are embodied in the Buddha’s teachings still remain as vital today as they have ever been, and prove to be of great benefit to everyone regardless of their faith and race. The nurturing, propagation and application of these qualities and values – by the Buddhist community, and more particularly this World Buddhist Forum - would contribute greatly to the sustainable peace, development and well-being of our world.

　　It is expected that this World Buddhist Forum would provide an opportunity to refine and reaffirm the greater role the Buddhist community can play in addressing and tackling vital contemporary challenges such as the conflict of national interests, war, faith crisis, environment protection, climate change, social injustice, and other socio-economic-political issues that continue to present harrowing obstacles for society to address and overcome.

澳大利亚“佛陀关怀”致第四届世界佛教论坛贺信

　　我非常荣幸代表佛陀关怀对中国佛教协会、中国宗教文化交流协会、大会组委会及所有参加此次国际佛教盛会的代表致以由衷的问候和祝贺。

　　佛陀关怀是一个非营利、多文化的慈善组织,将致力于奉行“入世佛教”核心教义的佛教徒们团结在一起,按照佛教的价值观对穷人施以援手，提供物质和精神上的帮助,并探索解决变化中的现代社会所面临的诸多问题的最佳方案。

　　佛陀教法中的慈悲、智慧、和平、善意和造福他人（利他）等价值观在当下看来依然十分重要，对每一个不同信仰和种族的人而言都有裨益。佛教界有责任身体力行地培养和实践这些品行操守和价值观，继而将它们传播出去，惠及更多人。在这方面，世界佛教论坛无疑发挥着特殊的作用，为世界的持久和平和发展以及众生福祉献计

如何对待佛教负面新闻

　　期待借本次论坛这一契机，重申和提升佛教界在处理悬而未决、令人痛心疾首的重大国际挑战时的关键作用，无论这些挑战是涉及国家利益冲突，还是战争、信仰危机、环境保护、气候变化、社会不公等政治经济社会问题。

　　我谨代表佛陀关怀祝本届论坛圆满成功。我很期待参与这场在中国这一拥有悠久灿烂的佛教文明的国度举行的盛会。
