据悉，印度拘尸那迦属不发达地区，没有铁路，只有公路相连。尽管有简易的飞机场，但已不能满足逐步增长的游客量。

相关政府官员表示，拘尸那迦(Kushinagar)作为佛祖涅槃之地是佛教四大圣地之一。每年都会迎来世界各地的信众前来朝拜。就来自中国、斯里兰卡、缅甸、泰国和印度其他地区的信众每年就有40000人。因此修建一个国际型的飞机场是十分必要的。除此之外，该飞机场还可以加速当地旅游业发展，增加就业机会，促进当地经济发展，深受当地居民欢迎。（编译：子规）

Kushinagar (Uttar Pradesh), May 31 (ANI), An international airport is soon to come up in Kushinagar, the destination of Buddha "Parinirvana" or final salvation, where Buddha breathed his last.

The government has hence taken a decision to develop an international airport in the city.

"It is a backward area and secondly it is the place of Parinirvana, final nirvana of Buddha, the place where Buddha breathed his last. An international airport was important here. This would help develop the area. If international level facilities were developed here, tourism will get a boost," said Avinash Avasthi, Director, Tourism, Uttar Pradesh.

The residents are happy that the airport will boost tourism and help generate employment for the locals.
